Job Description:

Plant Design Engineers are responsible for designing and coordinating the layout and configuration of industrial plants, including Mineral/Coal Processing Plant, Material Handling Plant, Manufacturing Facilities, Chemical Plants, Power Generation Plants, and more. They work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that plants are designed to meet operational requirements, safety standards, environmental regulations, and cost-efficiency goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptual Design: Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to define the scope and objectives of the plant project.

  • Process Design: Develop and optimize the overall process flow, including material handling, equipment selection, and process systems.

  • Layout and Facility Design: Plan and design the physical layout of the plant, including equipment placement, structural elements, utilities, and safety features.

  • Equipment Specification: Select appropriate machinery and equipment based on project requirements and technical specifications.

  • Materials and Piping Design: Design piping systems, specify materials, and ensure compatibility with the processes involved.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that plant designs meet safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements.

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare bill of quantity (BOQ), cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for plant construction and operation.

  • CAD and Simulation: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed engineering drawings and conduct simulations for process optimization.

  • Project Management: Manage engineering projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with contractors and subcontractors.

  • Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that designs meet engineering and performance standards.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and operational disruptions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (e.g., chemical, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering).

  • Relevant experience in plant design or engineering preferably in Mineral/coal industry

  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering design tools.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Project management skills and experience are valuable.

  • Knowledge of process optimization and automation technologies is an advantage.
